Apprentices’ development continues to be the cornerstone to deliver future unmatched product support services. Our developed Apprentices become experienced technicians with high skills, highly competent and have deep expertise with Caterpillar or other manufacturers’ equipment.

We would like to congratulate 3 Apprentices who have challenged the Red Seal Exam over the last few weeks and are now licensed technicians:

  • Brodie Cornick, Orillia Branch
  • Alan Maloney, Sudbury Branch
  • Shane Sterner Sudbury Branch

We also are rooting for our 26 Apprentices who are currently preparing to take the Red Seal Exam; 10 from the Central Region, 10 from the South West Region, 6 from the North Region, 3 from Resources Operations Support Store 90, 3 from Detour Lake Mine Site, 3 from the Atlantic Region, and 1 from the West Region.

More great news: We are working with 21 additional Apprentices, reviewing and assessing to determine their eligibility to also take the Red Seal Exam this year. Central - 6, South West - 2, North - 5, Store 90 - 2, Detour Lake - 1, Dartmouth - 4, and Fredericton - 1.

This will translate into a total of 47 Apprentices that will be joining our Technician Force very soon as they progress out of the Apprenticeship Program and become licenced.  With this in mind, our corporate Training team is already prepared to recruit new talents to feed in and replace those Apprentices who will be graduating.

As we continue focusing on Apprentices’ Development, some initiatives this year will include the following:

Power Systems Apprenticeship Training Program Improvement:

We are ready to deploy a brand new structured Apprenticeship Training Program for Power Systems. This program is essential for our Services Growth but most importantly, our Apprentice development.

Quebec Red Seal Procedure Deployment:

We are working with the government of Quebec on the Red Seal licence procedure. The success of this partnership will ensure our Apprentices and Technicians who meet Toromont’s criteria will be eligible to go through the process of obtaining their Blue Seal and then write the Red Seal Exam. With the help of our Quebec Apprentice Specialist that we be appointing very soon, we are one step closer to further align Quebec and all our other provinces Apprenticeship Training Program and Progression Process.
