3126/C7/C9 HEUI Engine (3 days sessions)

3126/C7/C9 HEUI Engine

Objectives
At completion of this course the student will be able to:

  • Understand maintenance requirements and procedures for the 3126/C7/C9 HEUI line of engines.
  • Properly use Cat ET to monitor engine operation and troubleshooting.
  • Properly use Cat ET to perform diagnostic tests and obtain printouts.
  • Program customer parameters with an understanding of their functions and effect on engine performance.
  • Follow Cat troubleshooting procedures to correctly identify and repair electronic problems.

Who Should Attend:
This course is intended for experienced technicians with diesel engine experience and a good working knowledge of electrical circuits, performing service functions and troubleshooting in the fleet environment.

Course Description:
This course covers the operation, maintenance and repair of the 3126/C7 electronic truck engine. Emphasis will be placed on the electronic controls, sensors and the HEUI fuel system.

Course Cost:
$300.00 per day per student plus applicable Taxes.

C-10/C-12/C13 Engine (3 days sessions)

  • Properly use Cat ET to perform diagnostic tests and obtain printouts.

  • Follow Cat troubleshooting procedures to correctly identify and repair electronic problems.

  • Follow Cat troubleshooting procedures to correctly identify and repair electronic problems.

Applied Failure Analysis (5 days sessions)

Applied Failure Analysis

Objectives
At completion of this course the student will be able to:

  • Better understand the nature and causes of iron failures
  • Use available literature to assist in the detection of failures
  • Distinguish between the result and the cause of a particular failure
  • Confidently make critical decisions concerning failures
  • Confidently make critical decisions concerning failures

Who Should Attend:
This course is intended for Technicians or any person who will be inspecting failed iron and must make a decision on the "root cause" and part responsible for a failure.

Course Description:
During this course the topics covered will be engine related and will include:

Common Core:

  • Proper failure analysis management
  • Study of metallurgy
  • Principles of wear
  • Principles of fractures
  • Visual examination
  • Threaded Fasteners

Engine Components:

  • Connecting Rods
  • Engine Bearings
  • Crankshafts
  • Pistons, Rings and Liners
  • Engine Valves
  • Turbochargers
  • Lubrication (discussed during all modules)

None

Course Cost:
$300.00 per day per student plus applicable Taxes.
NOTE: There is a $250.00 surcharge added to the cost of this course to cover the cost of training materials the student receives.

2009 Customer Training Pricing

Customized training courses are available upon request. The specifics for custom courses are as follows:

$1500.00 for up to an 8 hour training day, for up to 8 students
- $190.00 per person per day for each additional student.
- GST is applied to the total training costs.
- Numbers may be further limited for machine access or safety
On-site training will include any additional traveling expenses.
One complete set of course material will be supplied to the company and one set to each student attending training.
Course hours are flexible to individual requirements.
 

 
The cost of attending a regularly scheduled course in Concord or at another Toromont Branch location is $300.00/day/student, plus applicable taxes.

To assist us in tailoring the course to your needs, we need answers to the following 3 questions:

1. Who are the trainees, Electricians, Diesel Mechanics or Operators? (This helps to determine what type of training is required, operation, maintenance or troubleshooting)

2. What is the level of expertise the trainee’s have now? (This helps to determine where we start the training from or how in depth the training must be)

3. What must the trainees do after the training that they cannot do now? (This helps to determine what new skills must be taught)
