DIAGNOSTICS
Each CAT Scheduled Oil Sample (SOS) test provides three specific types of diagnostic tests. 1. Wear analysis - monitors machine wear by detecting, identifying and assessing the amount and type of metal wear elements found in used oil. 2. Chemical and physical tests - detects the physical presence of unwanted fluids (water, fuel, antifreeze) in the oil. 3. Oil condition analysis - identifies loss of lubricating properties by quantifying combustion by products (soot, sulphur, oxidation and nitration products).  With SOS, all fluids are tested - not just engine oil. Sample test processing is done at your nearby CAT dealer, providing you with results and recommendations usually available within 24 hours of receipt of your sample. We know speed is important and delay can be costly. If a critical situation is identified, you are notified by telephone immediately, or by fastest means possible. Importantly, when you receive your SOS test results, it is clear, concise and easy to understand. It calls for specific, immediate action and/or makes carefully outlined recommendations - recommendations that add efficiency and productivity. At all times, your CAT Dealer is available to answer questions or to discuss report specifics in detail, or, when necessary, to call factory technical consultants to help you understand the situation clearly. WHAT THIS MEANS TO YOU Improved Machine Availability With a regular PM inspection program small problems are found before becoming major repairs. This allows these repairs to be scheduled at times convenient to your workload, thus increasing the machines availability. Lower Overall Operating Cost A well-maintained machine operates better and longer between major repairs. By keeping the machine in good operating condition, repairs usually cost less and are required less often. Identifies Required Minor Repairs Regular PM servicing will identify minor inexpensive repairs before they become major expensive repairs. Machine Condition Is Known The true condition of the machine is always known, which allows the owner to make better decisions regarding the equipment. Guaranteed PM Rates All PM inspections are the same cost, regardless of the Toromont facility performing the services. As well, prices are in effect for a period of one year from the agreement date. Higher Trade-In Value A well-maintained machine with good record keeping of services and repairs usually has a higher trade-in value. |
